Rockwool LRB Roll

A rockwool LRB roll, also called a wired mattress, is a rock wool blanket stitched to galvanized hexagonal wire netting and supplied in rolls. It wraps boilers, large-bore pipes, ducts, tanks, turbines and irregular equipment in one continuous layer, and the mesh holds it in place under heat and vibration.

Rockwool LRB roll is rated up to 650°C, depending on density. The higher densities in the range, up to 128 kg/m³, are chosen for the hottest service, while lighter densities suit lower temperatures. Mesh and stitching wire can be specified in stainless steel where conditions call for it.

LRB roll is a flexible wired mattress, 64 to 128 kg/m³ and up to 650°C, made for wrapping large or irregular surfaces. RB slab is a rigid 96 to 144 kg/m³ board, also up to 650°C, for flat and curved surfaces. LRB slab is a semi-rigid 48 or 64 kg/m³ board rated up to 400-450°C for light-duty lagging.

Rockwool wired mattress is 600 mm wide and 2.5 to 5 m long, with length depending on thickness, in 25, 40, 50, 75 or 100 mm thicknesses. Densities are 64, 80, 100, 120 and 128 kg/m³. Pick density by operating temperature and mechanical duty, and thickness by heat-loss and surface-temperature targets.

The standard mesh is galvanized hexagonal netting, 24 SWG x 20 mm, through-stitched with GI or stainless steel wire, and SS 304 mesh is available as an option. Stainless mesh and stitching are often chosen for stainless steel equipment, and the mattress itself has a chloride content below 10 ppm.

The mattress is wrapped around the pipe or equipment with the mesh facing out, and adjacent edges are laced together with tie wire through the mesh. It is then secured with Insulation Band & Buckles and covered with Aluminum Cladding Sheet & Coil fixed by Self-Tapping Screw fasteners. Long rolls mean fewer joints on large equipment.

Rockwool LRB roll has a thermal conductivity of 0.040 to 0.046 W/mK at 100°C mean temperature. It is non-combustible, Class A1 to EN 13501-1, and is supplied unfaced or foil-faced. For sizing, the heat-loss calculator on this site estimates heat loss and surface temperature for a chosen thickness.

Rockwool LRB roll is supplied to IS 8183, ASTM C592 and BS 3958-3, the standards commonly specified for mineral wool blankets and wired mattresses. If your project needs particular test certificates, mention it in your enquiry and we will confirm what is available for your order.

Each LRB roll is individually rolled and poly-wrapped, then palletized for sea freight, and it is declared under HS code 6806 10 00 for rock wool and similar mineral wool articles. Rolls can share a container with slabs, pipe sections, cladding and accessories, shipped from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) or Mumbai as FCL or LCL.
