Aluminum Cladding Sheet & Coil

Aluminum cladding sheet is the outer metal jacketing fitted over pipe, duct and tank insulation to protect it from rain, UV and mechanical damage. It is supplied as coil for wrapping pipes and as flat sheet for equipment and flat surfaces, in plain or stucco-embossed finish, and is fixed with Self-Tapping Screw or Insulation Band & Buckles.

Aluminum cladding is available in 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8 and 1.0 mm thickness, as sheets of 1000 x 2000 mm or 1220 x 2440 mm and as coils 300 to 1200 mm wide and up to 30 to 50 m long. Thinner gauges suit small pipes that need tight rolling; heavier gauges suit large pipes, vessels, tanks and impact-prone areas.

Stucco-embossed aluminum has a textured surface that resists visible dents better and reduces glare, so it is common on outdoor pipe racks and tanks. Plain finish has a smooth surface and is often used indoors or where a clean appearance is preferred. Both finishes are supplied in the same alloys and thicknesses.

Cladding is made from AA 3003 or AA 1100 alloy in H14, H16 or H24 semi-hard temper. AA 1100 is commercially pure aluminum and easy to form, while AA 3003 contains manganese and gives higher strength. Semi-hard tempers let the sheet be rolled around pipes and swaged at joints while keeping enough stiffness to hold its shape.

Aluminum cladding should be lapped so water runs off: circumferential joints overlap downhill like roof shingles, and longitudinal seams sit below the horizontal centerline, facing away from prevailing weather. Overlaps are fixed with Self-Tapping Screw or Insulation Band & Buckles, and penetrations and terminations are sealed with Silicone Sealant.

Yes, aluminum cladding resists corrosion through its natural oxide layer and performs well under outdoor and UV exposure, with marine-grade options for coastal and offshore sites. Use stainless steel screws and bands with it, since GI fasteners corrode first in salty air, and avoid direct contact with copper or other dissimilar metals in wet conditions.
